Los Angeles

Los Angeles jumped on the path to stardom in the 1920’s when film-makers realized how important the sun light played a role in their films. Film-makers headed to the west in droves from places like New York City and thus the legendary Hollywood was born. Back then, it was just a simple district. Who knew that it would become the major hot spot for movies and stars? Now it’s home to movie moguls like Universal, Warner Brothers, Universal, Paramount, and more. In fact, the heart of Los Angeles is now often referred to as the “Entertainment Capital of the World”.

When you think about Los Angeles, you likely think of Hollywood; you probably think about glamorous movie stars and high-tech, action film settings. There’s more to Los Angeles than just Hollywood, though. Los Angeles has much more to offer, and there’s something for everyone. If you enjoy the arts, then you could visit the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Getty Museum, or the LA Philharmonic. If you love the water, there’s plenty of open beach area to be explored.

Los Angeles is a true melting pot of people and culture. Here you can find earth loving greenies, tattoo loving artists, health nuts, beach bums, and just about any other kind of person you could imagine. They’re all here. Many immigrants from other countries come to the country through Los Angeles, including Eastern Europe, Asia, and the Pacific Rim. Los Angeles is one of the most diverse places on earth with people from over 150 countries, and nearly 100 languages spoken here.

Some areas are known for being predominant in one culture or the other. Take the South Los Angeles area for example, it’s usually been most African-American, but Latino is very much increasing. Even though it was given a reputation as “the hood”, you’ll also find Baldwin Hills here; one of the most wealthy African-American communities in the country.
